How much experience with 3D environments did you have before taking the course?

I had roughly 14 hours of experience working with 3D software (solely Blender) prior to starting the course, primarily to do with elementary prop modelling. 3D environments seemed like far too high a hurdle for me to even attempt at the time.

Did you expect, before taking the course that you would be able to create an engaging environment?

I was unsure as to how well I would be able to replicate what was shown off in the course preview and didn’t expect to develop anywhere close to that degree of proficiency in environment creation.

A lot of motivation is needed to take all classes, what motivated you?

The reviews and comments suggested that despite seeming so daunting, the course could cater even to newbies like myself and would provide the perspective of a seasoned professional in an easy-to-digest manner. This, and the jaw-dropping course outcomes were motivation enough for me to dive right in.

The course prepares students for the sometimes-difficult moments, have you had this experience too? If so, what motivated you to move forward.

One of the biggest takeaways from the course is how to break down a complex part of the scene into easy-to-model sub-objects that can be worked on in isolation, and then pieced back together to form an intricate whole. Awareness of how to adopt this approach has helped me overcome modelling roadblocks that previously prevented me from detailing meshes to my satisfaction.

How does it feel to have the experience to create complex 3D environments?

Material that guides 3D artists from across the spectrum of skill so masterfully is hard to come by, and the thought that I didn’t have to spend several years figuring out how to craft such immaculate environments is staggeringly unreal. The workflow and design considerations imparted by the course aid not only natural environment creation, but also help provide a sense of perspective when building any scene.

What are your 3D plans for the future?

I intend on primarily pursuing modelling; however, environment creation will undoubtedly remain a leisurely pastime to indulge myself in – kit-bashing, mixing and matching components and materials to build evocative sceneries.
